Zion National Park

This week, I'm sharing pictures from my vacation. Earlier, I shared pictures of my trip to Arches National Park. On the next leg of our road trip, we spent a day in Zion National Park in Utah. After traveling through miles of desert, it was nice to spend a day in this cool shaded canyon. The Virgin River runs through the sandstone canyon to create this beautiful oasis in the desert.
The deer liked this area too. We saw many of them and they were certainly used to having people around.
We hiked a steep three mile trail up a sheer sandstone cliff.

It was worth it to get to the top for the amazing views.

It sure felt nice to get back down to the river and rest after that!

We only stayed a day in Zion. I would have loved to stay longer to hike and explore more, but we had one more stop to make at Monument Valley. More about that part of the trip tomorrow!
