Ribbon and Felt Flower Bookmarks

Ribbon and Felt Flower Bookmarks

A special book calls for a special bookmark.  I have a collection of bookmarks that I've used for ages.  They're just made of paper and nothing fancy, but they all have sentimental value to me.  My favorite bookmarks have seen a lot of use over the years and are looking a bit shabby and worn, but I still use them because I like them so much.  I saw this idea on Pinterest for these pretty flower and ribbon bookmarks and decided it was time for some new ones   These bookmarks are so sweet and pretty, don't you think?

Here's what you'll need:
felt
ribbon, about 12 inches long
buttons
scissors
glue gun

Cut out the flowers from the felt.  I used this flower pattern.
Glue a button to the center of the flower.
Glue a piece of ribbon to the back of the flower.

And you're done!  Ta-da!  Easy peasy!

I was worried that the flower part of the bookmark would be too thick, especially with two layers of felt, but it wasn't and doesn't damage the spine of the book.  You can use any type of ribbon too.  The pink ribbon  I used is a very light weight ribbon and the blue one is thicker.

So now that you know how easy these cute little bookmarks are to make, will you be making some for yourself?  Wouldn't one of these be nice to include as a gift with a special book?  I think kids would have fun making these too.

  7. I too love bookmarks, although I am apt to stick in any scrap of paper into my book including a grocery receipt, so your beautiful bookmarks provide me with so much lovelier options! Ok, I'm dying to know, what is the book you are reading? I'm always on the look out for good books. Visiting via "WakeUpWednesday" linkup.

    1. I know what you mean Barb. I've also used any piece of paper laying around as a bookmark. This book is a young adult novel called "The Red Necklace" by Sally Gardner. I really liked it and can't wait to read the sequel called "The Silver Blade." I really don't know why I haven't written a review about it yet. Guess I should get busy. :) For more good books, be sure to check out my book reviews here: http://www.thepinjunkie.com/p/books.html

  9. These are really cute! I love to have a variety of different bookmarks since I go to the library a lot - I have an ereader but still prefer regular books - especially if its a cookbook or a knitting book. I am going to put this on my list of crafts to make soon.
