Homemade Baklava
Baklava is a Greek dessert that has paper thin, crispy layers of phyllo dough, honey, and nuts. I love baklava and had always assumed it was difficult to make. I saw this recipe on The Chicken Chick which included excellent step by step instructions and helpful pictures. I pinned that recipe right away and decided to give it a try.
I learned my lesson about working with phyllo dough from the Greek inspired spinach pie pin fail and this time, I knew to thaw the phyllo dough before using it. My assumption about baklava being difficult to make was completely wrong. It's not hard to do. It just takes some time to prepare all the layers, but it's totally worth it! This baklava tastes just as good as the baklava I've had at Greek restaurants!
As much as I'd like to eat this whole pan of baklava myself, I'm going to share it along with some of the other goodies I made recently.
Inspired by this pin for baklava recipe.
I made baklava over the summer and was also surprised at home easy it was. It's definitely a longer process, but not an overly difficult one. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter is good with phyllo dough I have to get her to try this. Thanks for sharing it on foodie friday.
