Holiday Sugar Cookies
I make sugar cookies every year at Christmas. I decided to try something a little different this year and was inspired to make these swirled sugar cookies pinned to my recipe board.
Start with a a basic sugar cookie recipe. Then divide the dough and add chocolate to half of the dough. Chill the dough before rolling between sheets of waxed paper. (If the dough is sticking to the paper, it's not chilled enough). Roll the two cookie doughs into a log and slice.
Bake the cookies on parchment paper. This keeps them from burning on the edges and bottoms.
I also made another batch but instead of adding chocolate, I added red food coloring to half of the dough. After I rolled the dough into a log, I rolled the log in colorful sprinkles.
The pin that inspiration today's post came from Sprinkle Bakes. Go here for the recipe and detailed directions on how to make these cookies.
Sugar cookies are my favorite! Love that you rolled and sprinkled them.. so fun and festive!

ReplyDeleteOh my gosh - adding chocolate to sugar cookie dough - how have I never thought of this? I'm a huge chocoholic, and I actually don't each sugar cookies because they don't have chocolate in them (true story). I'll definitely be trying this. Thanks for sharing on Link Love Thursday. Have a nice day!
